20th Annual Letter Carrier

Food Drive “Stamp Out Hunger”

Saturday, May 12, 2012.  Meet at Granada Shopping Center, corner of Immokalee Road & U.S. 41 (next to Haverty’s & First Watch), after walk/breakfast.

“Stamp Out Hunger” drive is the one day of the year when letter carriers collect food that has been left in or hanging from mailboxes.  Food collected in Lee County will go to the Harry Chapin Food Bank for distribution, Collier County food will go to Collier Harvest.

 

Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 13, 2012.  Mother’s Day was begun in 1907 by Ana Jarvis who wished to honor her mother and talked her church into observing the day. It was designated by Presidential proclamation and was recognized officially by Congress and the President in 1914. It is celebrated in honor of Mothers on the second Sunday of May by pampering them for a day.

 

 

Annual Armed Forces Holiday Walk

Saturday, May 19, 2012.  Meet at 7 am at Physicians Regional Medical Center parking lot for our regular weekly 3.1-mile walk; and, to Honor Armed Forces Day and to Salute all those in the military, past, present,and those that still stand serving today who have put their lives in danger to protect the people of the United States.

 

 

Annual Memorial Day Walk (Decoration Day)

A Red, White and Blue Color Alert!!

Monday, May 28, 2012.  Meet at 8 AM at Freedom Park for our holiday walk, 1515 Golden Gate Parkway. [map]

A day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service – a day in memory of our military heroes who gave up all their tomorrows so we could have ours.

Come Celebrate Memorial Day With Us at Freedom Park!!
