NAPLES WALKING CLUB
MINUTES – FEBRUARY 4, 2017
President, Mary Moran, called the January meeting to order at 8:24 a.m. Twenty-one members were present. Five members have February birthdays:

The January, 2017 Minutes were approved, as written.
Treasurer Report: Marsha McGuiness and Carole Levick reported that the club has a balance of $1,132.83 as of January, 2017.
Membership: Mary Moran welcomed new member Rohini Sakhuja to the club.
Tee Shirts: Debbie Vallante provided an update of the club tee-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets currently available for purchase. Members were encouraged to let her know what they would like to purchase.
Mary Moran thanked everyone who volunteered at the Naples Daily News Half Marathon water station. Fourteen (14) club members, five Ladies on the Run, several strong relatives of Dorothy Burgess, and friends, totaling 26 workers participated. It was a fun and worthwhile event. A special thanks to Margo and Charlie for the bagels and coffee. Please let Mary know if you can store the trays, spoons, etc. used for this event each year.
Thirteen (13) members attended the January 21st Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary guided boardwalk tour. The naturalist was a very informative guide and attendees learned about the wildlife, vegetation, and the ancient cypress forest.
Our “winter” club party to celebrate the club’s 25th Anniversary will be held on Sunday, February 12th at 4:00 at the Forest Lakes clubhouse (1058 Forest Lakes Drive, Naples 34105). The entrance to Forest Lakes is off Forest Lakes Drive opposite the Home Deport on Pine Ridge. Margo and Lovi are coordinating the event; Padric has also offered to assist. Another volunteer was requested. Members should bring a dish and wine will be provided. Entertainment will be provided by HUG, the Happy Ukulele Group, and scrapbooks of past years events will be available to enjoy. Members will be able to claim photos they would like to have.
The NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness) Walk is Saturday, February 25th at Cambier Park. Fun, food and entertainment beings at 8:00 a.m. with a 2.5 mile walk at 9:00 a.m. Members should meet in Cambier Park. The club will donate $100 to NAMI.
Carol Greenberg distributed a brochure on the Cure PSP Awareness and Memorial Walk being held on Saturday March 18th at 10:30 in Mackle Park on Marco Island. Members were encouraged to participate.
There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
